SSAF–AAA Research Grant for Histories of Ideas, Art Writing, and Visual Culture 2018

The Sher-Gil Sundaram Arts Foundation (SSAF) and Asia Art Archive (AAA) in India are pleased to announce the SSAF–AAA Research Grant for Histories of Ideas, Art Writing, and Visual Culture 2018. This grant, which is the first collaboration between SSAF and AAA in India, emerges from AAA’s ongoing engagement with histories of art writing, and its initiatives to map, compile, translate, and republish texts from various contexts. This grant is in line with SSAF’s commitment to work with cross-disciplinary initiatives addressing the oppressed and the marginalised, and alternative and heterodox practices in the arts and in intellectual work.

Under the theme of “Commotion” Hors Pistes Tokyo 2016 will present various programs: legendary works which caused uproar in the art world, cutting-edge moving image arts and performances, selected works by Hors Pistes Paris and nominated works from new artists in various Asian countries.  Hors Pistes (“off-road” in French) is an international film festival initiated by the world famous Centre Pompidou museum in Paris. Since 2011, Hors Pistes Tokyo promotes emerging images, ideas and talents in Japan and Asia. CALL FOR SUBMISSION   8th Cairo Video Festival   Video Art & Experimental Film

Medrar for Contemporary Art is accepting applications for the 8th Cairo Video Festival, which will take place in February, 2017. Initiated by the Cairo-based artist initiative Medrar for Contemporary Art in 2005, this festival continues its focus on providing a platform for sharing and discussing newly produced high concept/low-budget experimental videos and films. Based on a call for works by emerging artists, the festival program takes the format of a concise series of video screenings, accompanied by talks and discussions with active video-makers and curators to tackle some of the key themes and issues presented in the works Check out the previous edition
